Maintenance Tip of the Week

  Oil-Life and Preventative Maintenance Intervals

Our Complete Care Maintenance Program has been designed with the following things in mind: Our local temperature extremes, humidity extremes, road conditions, salt, and everything Canadian, including cold winters and hot summers.

The bare minimum of service to maintain your vehicle's warranty isn't the answer to preventative maintenance. The Boyer Autogroup's provision is that some services may be required more frequently. For example when driving in sub-zero temperatures (snow/salt) your vehicle may require different and more frequent maintenance than a vehicle driven in a more temperate climates. taking the guess work out of when you need an oil change is one true advantage of us servicing your vehicle. That is why we recommend it every 5,000 - 8000kms,  especially if you use your vehicle to tow, or you do extensive idling in stop and go traffic,or drive on dusty, dirty roads, or use E85 fuel . Your oil life indicator will let you know that it is time to take your vehicle in if you have not already done so. If you decide to wit till the light comes on, have your vehicle serviced as soon as possible within the next 800kms and never exceed 6 months or 12000kms- whichever occurs first.

The oil indicator message will not monitor the time since the last oil change. Our dealership will reset the oil change indicator after completing the oil change.

Your actual driving habits will determine the other services required on your vehicle... for example: stop and go driving = Brake Service and trailer towing = more frequent transmission service. The performance of all scheduled service work is required to maintain your vehicle in good operating condition. General Motors Canada reserves the right to deny warranty coverage if the vehicle has not been properly maintained.

BOYER NAPANEE WEEKLY MAINTENANCE TIP

Friday October 25,2013

Well folks, its that time of year again......time to dig the snow tires out of the garage or the back of the shed and head to the service department to have them installed and get your vehicle serviced and ready for another Canadian winter. Having winter tires vastly improves your vehicle's performance in slippery conditions as they are designed to perform better in cold temperatures and often have features that improve traction during stopping and starting. Boyer has a wide selection of  winter tires and rims for all makes and models for your convenience.  At Boyer's will also store your winter/summer tires until its time to switch again the following season.  Having winter and summer tires does prolong tire life as they are switched from season to season but proper tire maintenance will also extend the life of both summer and winter tires.

PROTECTING YOUR INVESTMENT

Regular tire rotation prolongs tire life, delaying their inevitable replacement as long as possible.

Tires are inspected for wear, improper alignment, inflation pressure, and steering/suspension concerns. Tire balance should be checked annually, or when a vibration is noticed in the steering.

By having your tires rotated and inspected, your technician will inspect and point out any concerns they
have with your tires.

Chevrolet trucks edging out the competition!!

There is some exciting news for Chevrolet and it newly redesigned 2014 Pickups, Consumers reports has completed its annual road test and the results are in....The new Chevrolet Silverado Edged out the Dodge Ram. The moral I got from this story if you want  a sport utility vehicle to haul the family and get groceries, Then the Ram is the truck for you. If you are looking for a truck that will haul the family and all their toys, and still hold its own on the job site with the big trucks you want A Chevrolet ....but I'll let you decide here is the consumer report article:

In a heavy-metal duel of two top pickups, the Chevrolet Silverado’s excellent road-test score of 81 makes it the top-rated truck. But as one of our testers put it, “The second-place Ram 1500 is the better ‘car.’ ” Huh?
This showdown between the redesigned 2014 Silverado and the updated 2013 Ram was neck-and-neck throughout. Each model won skirmishes along the way. And in the end, they finished one-two in the category, separated by only 3 points.
The Silverado edged the Ram in several areas important to many pickup owners. When typically configured, it has a significantly larger bed and more payload capacity, and it can tow more weight. The Silverado also has a lower step-in height than the Ram, aiding access. It handles a bit better in everyday driving (though no big pickup is particularly agile). And it delivers best-in-class fuel economy of 16 mpg overall, which is 1 mpg better than the Ram. That could save you about 50 gallons of gas per year.
But if you use your truck more for day-to-day driving, the Ram is a nicer place to spend your time. It rides better and has more comfortable seats, a nicer rear seat, and a slightly friendlier control layout. It’s also quicker than the Silverado, and it feels much brawnier in real-world driving. The Ram also brings its own impressive workhorse credentials.
The reality is that you can’t go wrong with either truck. In the versions we tested—four-door crew cabs with V8 engines and four-wheel drive—both get decent gas mileage and are as quiet inside as a good luxury car.
The best-selling Ford F-150 is headed for its own redesign for 2015. So stay tuned; another battle is brewing.
